Thelonious Monk Competition Winners to Perform in the New Year

BMCC Tribeca PAC is proud to present the talented winners of the 2014 Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition. This year's three finalists, outstanding trumpet players, will perform three solo concerts on Jan. 31st, Feb. 14th and 28th, respectively.

First Place Winner Marquis Hill is widely recognized as one of the preeminent voices on the instrument of his generation. He has four albums to his credit: New Gospel, Sounds of the City, The Poet and Modern Flows vol. 1. For more information, click here.

BILLY BUSS

First Runner-Up Billy Buss actually performed here with 2013 Thelonious Monk Finalist & saxophonist Godwin Louis to an enthusiastic audience earlier this year on Jan. 25, 2014. Most recently, Billy performed with Thelonious Monk Jr. in Osaka, Japan.For more information, click here.

ADAM O'FARRILL

Second Runner-Up Adam O'Farrill was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY to a musical family including his grandfather, legendary Afro-Cuban composer and arranger Chico O'Farrill as well as father, Arturo O'Farrill, pianist, bandleader, and director of the Afro-Latin Jazz Alliance.
