Jazz Bridge First Thursday Concert Series In Cheltenham Presents Chico Huff

The Jazz Bridge First Wednesdays Neighborhood Concerts Series at the Cheltenham Center for the Arts, Ashbourne Road in Cheltenham—presents bassist Chico Huff on Wednesday, February 4. Showtime is 7:30 p.m.

Originally a guitarist, Arlie "Chico" Huff has been playing music professionally – on bass—since he was 15 years old. Though never formally trained, he got serious, on-the-job training during his years living in Massachusetts via playing and/or recording with the likes of Carly Simon and James Taylor. He moved to Philadelphia in 1983, and ended up spending six years on the Atlantic City music scene where worked he backed just about everyone. He then spent three years touring with Irish super group Solas, crisscrossing the country regularly with "side trips" to Ireland and Belgium. In between traveling, he played with smooth jazz guitarist Jeff Golub as well as a short stint with David Crosby (of Crosby, Still & Nash). More recently, he's become a mainstay on the Philadelphia jazz scene, best known for his ability to work well in a variety of settings, ranging from funk to Latin to straight-ahead jazz.

Jazz Bridge, an award-winning nonprofit dedicated to assisting Greater Philadelphia Metro area jazz and blues musicians and vocalists in times of crisis, sponsors these neighborhood concerts throughout the region to keep the sound of Philadelphia alive.
