Known for her "passionate delivery that can penetrate hearts" (JazzReview), once again she embarks on a musical exploration – this time traversing through jazz and singer-songwriter territories, and landing squarely in the space between. This stripped-down and exceptionally intimate duo recording is a stark contrast to her multi-layered and well received debut CD Where is Love? Complemented by the "beautiful and soulful" timbre of guitarist Tony Romano (Just Jazz Guitar) on nylon-string guitar, each of these ten tracks is an unadorned yet delicate interplay, culminating in a moving and poignant offering to the listener. Prior comparisons to the plaintive vocal styles of Madeleine Peyroux (Jazz Weekly) and Susannah McCorkle (Jazz Society of Oregon) ring true in this bittersweet collection of songs steeped in longing and unfulfilled desire.
