Among the Stars is the second release for acoustic jazz vocalist Kelley Suttenfield. Known for her "passionate delivery that can penetrate hearts" (JazzReview), once again she embarks on a musical exploration – this time traversing through jazz and singer-songwriter territories, and landing squarely in the space between. This stripped-down and exceptionally intimate duo recording is a stark contrast to her multi-layered and well received debut CD Where is Love? Complemented by the "beautiful and soulful" timbre of guitarist Tony Romano (Just Jazz Guitar) on nylon-string guitar, each of these ten tracks is an unadorned yet delicate interplay, culminating in a moving and poignant offering to the listener. Prior comparisons to the plaintive vocal styles of Madeleine Peyroux (Jazz Weekly) and Susannah McCorkle (Jazz Society of Oregon) ring true in this bittersweet collection of songs steeped in longing and unfulfilled desire. As a sophomore release, Among the Stars delivers bold statements from both Suttenfield and Romano.

"A warm, sensual and distinctive vocal sound marks Kelley Suttenfield as someone rather special in the somewhat overcrowded arena in which today's jazz singers must perform." – Jazz Mostly

"Suttenfield and Romano make a lovely statement. Among The Stars is a real low-key charmer."
– All About Jazz

"Romano lays a harmonic and rhythmic bed that leaves nothing lacking." – Jazz Improv

"His tone is beautiful and soulful, and his remarkable technique is a servant to his rich musical imagination and broad harmonic palette." – Just Jazz Guitar
