Trumpeter and composer Chris Botti ("Emmanuel, " "When I Fall in Love") has established himself as one of the leading innovators of the contemporary music and jazz worlds. Since the release of his 2004 CD, When I Fall In Love, he has become the largest-selling American instrumental artist, with four No. 1 jazz albums and multiple Grammy nominations. In 2013 he won the Grammy for Best Pop Instrumental Album for his latest release, Impressions.

Sensual singer Michael Franks ("The Lady Wants to Know") and singer-guitarist Raul Midón ("State of Mind") meet onstage in a gentle and witty celebration of romance as part of the TD James Moody Democracy of Jazz Festival. Flavored with a Latin vibe, their performance includes hits such as Franks' "When I Give My Love to You" and "Popsicle Toes" and Midón's "Invisible Chains" and "Blackbird."

NJPAC, JAZZ ROOTS and

Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition
Sunday, November 16 at 3pm
Following an extensive international talent search, NJPAC will host performances by the five finalists in the third annual Sarah Vaughan International Jazz Vocal Competition and Sassy Award, founded in honor of Newark's "divine" jazz icon. They are Kathryn Christie, Kate Kelsey-Sugg, Sarah McKenzie, Shacara Rogers and Ashleigh Smith.
