JFA gala at Apollo 10/24 feat. Herbie, Quincy, Chaka & Bruce Willis

Jazz Foundation of America
13th Annual

A GREAT NIGHT IN HARLEM

Gala Concert
Honoring Herbie Hancock

Friday, October 24, 8:30 PM
The Apollo Theater
253 West 125th Street, NYC

FEATURING A RARE COMBINATION
OF ALL-TIME LEGENDS AND UNKNOWN GEMS
FROM THE WORLDS OF JAZZ, BLUES, R&B AND ROCK

We will be witnessing history as Herbie Hancock receives
a Lifetime Achievement Award from Quincy Jones
with special guest Bruce Willis.

Herbie himself will lead an all-star tribute
to our beloved trumpeter Clark Terry
featuring The Heath Brothers,
Wallace Roney, Steve Jordan,
Buster Williams and Billy Hart.

10-time GRAMMY winner Chaka Khan
and Verdine White (of Earth, Wind and Fire)
will pay homage to Maurice White
with help from Ray Parker Jr. and Questlove,
and we will celebrate the life of the
late, great Little Jimmy Scott
with a special, heartfelt tribute.

As always, we will have seat-rocking talent from young gems
like the soon-to-be-famous Cuban sensation Jorge Luis Pacheco,
13-year-old piano prodigy Matthew Whitaker
and 10-year-old phenom Joey Alexander,
plus veterans like "The Soul of America" Charles Bradley
and blues-rocker Susan Tedeschi,
not to mention the wonderful surprises to be announced
as we get closer to "Showtime!"

THE CAUSE
For 25 years, the Jazz Foundation of America has been
keeping jazz and blues alive by helping the musicians
who played with everyone from Duke Ellington and Billie Holiday
to Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones.

We now assist in more than 5, 000 cases a year, nationwide.
OUR PROGRAMS INCLUDE:

•Preventing homelessness and evictions by paying rents and mortgages

•Creating work through our Agnes Varis Jazz in the Schools Program,
which reaches thousands of inner city public school children
across America every year

•Providing free medical care and operations through our angels
at Englewood Hospital & Medical Center

•Being there with our Musicians' Emergency Fund
when illness, hunger, accident or other crisis strikes

Our efforts since Hurricane Katrina have helped
over 1, 000 of New Orleans' most beloved musicians
find work and new homes for their families.

Thanks to the Agnes Varis Trust, hundred of these artists
continue to perform every month.

Whatever the need is, we don't just fix the problem...
we heal it with dignified solutions and love.
