Jocelyn Medina Quartet Friday, July 25, 7-9 pm Jazz at Inkwell

The sounds and styles of internationally acclaimed vocalist/composer Jocelyn Medina cross cultures, creeds and continents. Her original work fuses elements of world music with jazz harmonies, neo-soul/funk grooves and adventurous improvisations delivered through compelling lyrics and a distinct sound. Whether from the stage of an international festival or in the intimate setting of a small jazz venue, she seeks to touch on each listener's individual experience with messages of universal truth and a unique artistic approach.

Jocelyn gathered her eclectic mix of creative influences living and performing throughout Spain, India, Germany, Brazil and Ghana, and studying at Berklee and Manhattan School of Music. Recently back inBrooklyn after 6 months in Mumbai, she continues to diversify her repertoire, merging new genres and defying classification.

Jocelyn returns home to the Inkwell presenting unreleased material from her third album (to be recorded this summer) in addition to music from her last CD, "We Are Water." The band: Jocelyn Medina-voice & compositions; Rez Abbasi-guitar; Zack Lober-bass; Paul Wiltgen-drums.
