Hudson Valley Jazz Festival 2014 Presents The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra

The Hudson Valley Jazz Festival celebrates it's fifth season, August 14-17, 2014. The series which takes place in several towns in the greater Hudson Valley features local talent along side Grammy winning and nationally recognized jazz names. Past artists include Dave Liebman, John Abercrombie, Bill Evans, Mark Egan, Arturo O'Farrill, Bobby Sanabria and Adam Nussbaum. This year's feature show, is The Vanguard Jazz Orchestra of NYC's famed Village Vanguard. This 17 piece jazz ensemble, formerly The Thad Jones / Mel Lewis Orchestra, has been a fixture on Monday nights for decades at this landmark jazz club. The concert is Saturday Aug. 16 at 8 PM at the lower Hudson Valley's, premier venue, The Sugar Loaf Performing Arts Center in Sugar Loaf.

Added this season "Women in Jazz of The Hudson Valley"(Sun. Aug 17.- 3 PM, Warwick Grove).

The Falcon in Marlboro presents Adam Nussbaum, Ohad Talmor and Steve Swallow, (Thurs Aug. 14 -7 PM)
The Bean Runner in Peekskill hosts Shunzo Ohno ( Sat. Aug. 16 -8 PM) and Ray Blue (Friday Aug 15 -8 PM- both shows $15)
Warwick local guitarist Jeff Ciampa, drummer Karl Latham with Pete Levin and Joel Frahm( Landmark Inn Thurs Aug. 14. -7 PM, )and trumpet player Chris Persad(The Dautaj, Fri. Aug 15 - 8 PM), both in Warwick.

Pine Island's Chamber of Commerce in Pine Island Park features saxophonist Eric Person.
(Sat. Aug. 16 - 6 PM).

Different environments and music styles from big bands to trios, quartets, traditional, modern, world music and fusion taking place in cafes, theaters, restaurants, parks, a village green, community center, tattoo and art studio and billiard hall.

Concerts are conveniently located near wonderful towns, shops, B&B's, and restaurants .
