Eclectic Alt-Folk Band Gungor Wraps I Am Mountain Tour

Denver's Alt-Folk foursome Gungor — the evocative husband/wife fronted band that "smokes live" (American Songwriter) — recently wrapped its I Am Mountain tour in support of its Fall 2013 release of the same name. The 50+ city run sold out clubs and theaters in markets including Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Nashville and Austin, yielding reviews bolstering previous comparisons to Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and Arcade Fire (USA Today.)

Tour attendance reflected the popularity of I Am Mountain, praised for its "lush arrangements" and "soaring vocals" (The Waco Tribune), and whose title track delivers a "rush of energy builds up to a big, earnest Arcade Fire-style climax" (American Songwriter).

iTunes— where the group debuted at No. 8 on the albums chart —says, "Gungor reaffirms its status as one of music's most imaginative outfits … interweaving high-gloss electronica sounds, gritty acoustic elements, and film soundtrack motifs to frame its yearning lyrics." (iTunes Editors' Notes)

Fuse News went behind-the-scenes with Gungor earlier this month - tune in on Tuesday, April 29 at 7:30 PM ET to catch the interview and performance. Also, on May 11, Gungor will be a featured performer on NPR's eTown and on July 8, the band spends time with Michael Feinstein for NPR's "Song Travels."

In addition to positive tour and album reviews, the band's "I Am Mountain" LIVE video premiered on Relix, and Michael Gungor's undeniable guitar performance was highlighted by Daytrotter.
