Halie Loren feat. Mads Tolling at Yoshi's San Francisco

Halie Loren feat. Mads Tolling will perform at Yoshi's San Francisco Sun May 4th 7pm. Vocalist Halie Loren has a possesses a unique story as well, the artistic product of growing up in a remote Alaskan town called Sitka, and having better access as a child to a collection jazz records than she did pop music on the radio. Interestingly, Halie has also become a musical celebrity of sorts in Japan the past few years.

During the past year, Halie has been making a big splash in the Bay Area, after an unexpected success last year ar Jazz in the Plazz in Los Gatos (her show was so well-received there that they invited her back to perform no later than her final bow last July 3rd)

Halie and Mads share a lot in common - both of them are around the same age, they both write their own music, and both of them are passionate about exploring the inner and outer boundaries of Jazz. In some ways, I would imagine this could be a "Part II" to your previous story - . Halie Loren's newest album Simply Love, is the first album of hers to have a heavy emphasis on arrangements with string instruments, one of the reasons Mads Tolling's collaboration will be so special.

"Breathlessly appealing ... " - JazzTimes

Short Bio: Internationally-acclaimed jazz vocalist and songwriter Halie Loren is known for her alluring stage presence, an ethereal voice, and her original music. Her performances bring fresh perspective to the musical paths she journeys. Her genre-defying original compositions have been recognized with awards by the John Lennon Songwriting and the Billboard World Song contests. AllAboutJazz praised her most recent album, Simply Love, as "warm and seductive." She has toured extensively throughout North America, Europe, and Asia, where she has been repeatedly brought back to Japan to headline the Blue Note and Cotton Club. Simply Love was placed on the ballot this year for a GRAMMY nomination.
