New CD from Daniel Smith 'Smokin' Hot Bassoon Blues'

New CD From Daniel Smith 'Smokin' Hot Bassoon Blues'. Set For February 2014 Release On Summit Records. This album is my 20th solo album to date, 15 classical, 2 crossover, and 5 jazz. After the tragedy of my beloved wife Judith dying of lung cancer in April of 2013, and at the urging of many friends and colleagues, I started to formulate the concept of a new recording project which would not only be something unique and special, but also honor her memory. In a sense, this album is more than just great music played by some of the best jazz artists to be found anywhere, but also of a very personal nature for me as I start to rebuild my life and musical career. Special thanks goes to Fernando Natilici who guided me through the conceptual process of this recording, the arrangements of Dutch pianist Robert Bosscher who also contributed 'awesome' solos on piano, and having Tom Lazarus as the producer/engineer of the music we recorded. Everyone involved in the project felt honored to be part of this very special recording, the likes of which has never been done before in the jazz and music worlds. I know you will be thrilled at hearing all this great music, as all the musicians were in putting our hearts and souls into each and every piece. As the cliche goes...'enjoy!' - Daniel Smith

The project is a passion of Smith's as he's dedicated the upcoming album (February, 2014 on Summit Records) to his late wife, Judith, who lost her battle with lung cancer in April 2013.
