Marilyn Maye at Iridium

On Wednesday July 10 2013 Legendary vocalist Marilyn Maye will bring her own style of jazz and show-biz to Iridium NYC for ONE NIGHT ONLY (two shows: 8 pm and 10 pm). Known for her impeccable timing and phrasing, Ms. Maye will feature - and be accompanied by -- not only her great trio of musicians (pianist/musical director Tedd Firth, bassist Tom Hubbard and drummer Ray Marchica), but two more players. They are the renowned clarinetist Ken Peplowski and noted trumpet man Brian Pareschi. It will be a rare treat to hear Marilyn Maye with these five world-class musicians and, of course, they'll perform her RCA hit recording "Take Five."

Ms. Maye was proclaimed a living "LEGEND" by the New York Nightlife Critics in January 2013.

"Her voice was full and rich and perfectly in tune, and she displayed a voluptuous enjoyment of singing." Stephen Holden - New York Times

"When going to hear Marilyn Maye, you'll find on one side of the room are the Broadway and cabaret people, who tend to like their singing big and theatrical, with a lot of drama and stage presence. On the other side is the jazz crowd, who wants everything hip and cool and understated, and will split the scene if anything doesn't swing. Ms. Maye is the only pop-song diva working today who can satisfy both crowds at once."

Will Friedwald - Wall Street Journal

"Marilyn has a strong sense of swing and a secure sense of time. Her improvisational ideas and easy scat stress the jazz aura in her songs. Her vocals are confident, her repertoire vast and her love of entertaining evident."

Elizabeth Ahlfors - New York Theatre Wire

The Manhattan Association of Cabarets and Clubs (MAC) voted Ms. Maye "Celebrity Artist of the Year for five consecutive years, 2009 thru 2013. You might think the title of this show refers to her MAC Award but it describes the number of musicians on July 10th - - - an added treat from the usual trio who works with her. Marilyn's direct communication with her audiences, combined with her Kansas City-jazz roots and her interplay in the hippest way with these great musicians, will make this a musically fun evening you won't want to miss.
