Dave Sharp's Secret 7 Readies New Release "Worlds"

Dave Sharp's follow up to the acclaimed Secret 7 release "7" broadens his scope of music and musicians with his new album "Worlds" by producing an expansive soundscape with his brand of "World Jazz" music. Collaborations with Cheikh Lo from Senegal (Nonesuch/World Circuit), Parthiv Gohil from India (EMI India), Gayelynne McKinney (Detroit), Walter White (Detroit), Chris Codish (Detroit). Evan Perri (Detroit), Carolyn Koebel (Kalamazoo), Inrdrajit Chowdhury (New York), and Mehdi Darvishi (Iran) mark this project as a diverse collection of improvised rhythm and sound.

Recorded at Backseat Production with Jim Roll in Ann Arbor, MI, and in various studios around the world, "WORLDS" began as a collaboration between bassist Dave Sharp and tenor saxophonist Chris Kaercher, who share a fascination with jazz and music from India and Africa, as well as sounds from New Orleans and the Middle East. During their criticallyacclaimed "JOURNEY" concert series at Kerrtyown Concerthouse in Ann Arbor, MI, Sharp and Kaercher presented a different musical theme at each performance, including "Journey to Africa, " "Journey to India, " Journey to New Orleans" and "Journey to the Middle East." Their critically acclaimed presentation of "Journey to India" at the 2011 Detroit Jazz Festival gave way to the recording and production of the new CD "WORLDS".
