Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen to receive honorary doctoral degrees at Manhattan School of Music's 87th Commencement

Manhattan School of Music will be holding its 87th commencement ceremony on Friday, May 10 at 12:00 p.m. at The Riverside Church. The School's president, James Gandre, will be presiding in his first official duty (Dr. Gandre begins his presidency on Monday, May 6) conferring degrees to 367 graduates (both undergraduate and graduate).

The Degree of Doctor of Musical Arts, honoris causa will go to Leonard Slatkin (conductor of the Detroit Symphony); Menahem Pressler (renowned pianist and former member of the Beaux Arts Trio); Dave Grusin (jazz pianist, record producer and cofounder of GRP Records; a 10-time GRAMMY and Academy Awardee, is one of the most highly sought composers for film); and Larry Rosen (record producer and cofounder of GRP Records; producer of numerous television and multimedia programs, and is the creator of "JAZZ ROOTS" a concert and educational program for performing arts centers across America.).

The Presidential Medal for Distinguished Faculty Service will be given to David Geber, Cellist and Vice President of Instrumental Performance; and the School's Resident Conductor David Gilbert.
