The Bucharest International Jazz Competition

Bucharest will be the world capital of jazz, May 18-25, given its hosting the "Bucharest International Jazz Competition", an event under the auspices of "EUROPAfest" featuring 27 bands from 22 countries – Argentina, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Columbia, Croatia, Switzerland, Estonia, France, Germany, Indonesia, Iceland, Italy, Mexico, Portugal, Romania, Russia, Spain, USA, Ukraine, UK, Hungary and Uruguay, Hotnews.ro quotes a press release as saying. Under the logo "100% jazz and more", the event will present exquisite concerts, jam sessions and workshops.

American jazz artist Mike Davison will teach the workshop "Cuba: Rhythm in Motion", with jam sessions to join artists from very different cultural backgrounds. The audience will have the opportunity to listen to the "crème de la crème" of artists belonging to the new generation of American, European and South American jazz players performing daring, well-defined and skillfully performed projects.

The positive vibes generated by jazz and various band projects makes packed houses a sure thing.In 2013, EUROPAfest – 100% jazz and more – will be hosted by Odeon Theater, Arcub Hall, New Academy of Music, European Public Space, as well as unconventional locations such as the Loft Club. Over its 7 editions so far, Bucharest International Jazz Competition gained the reputation of being the strongest international jazz contest in this region and was ranked by the BBC among the top 3 jazz events across Europe. Under the logo "It's all about live-quality-music !" EUROPAfest 2013 will be the venue May 19-25 for jazz blues, pop and classical music concerts involving over 300 musicians from 52 countries. Its agenda includes Europe's Day Concert, live jazz, blues and pop concerts, international contests, jam sessions, workshops, café festival, festival's corner and Gala.
