Good Friday Blues: Friday, March 29th at Saint Marks Church In-the Bowery

Good Friday Blues: Friday, March 29th, 12-3 pm at Saint Marks Church in-the Bowery (131 E 10th St (at Second Ave and Tenth Street), New York, NY 10003). The Good Friday Blues Service is truly community event that uses music, the spoken word, and scripture to reflect on the journey of the spirit. It incorporates the Blues as a musical concept for experiencing the events leading up to the crucifixion of Jesus as found in the Gospel of St. John.

The Good Friday Blues concept originated as a collaborative effort between former Suffragan Bishop Cathy Roskam, and Jeannine Otis, Director of Music at Saint Marks Church, the Saint Marks Choir, and Cherette Smith, Dramaturg/co- Director.

The Production features : Special Guests Ms. Ann Duquesnay, Tony Award Winner for Bring in the Noise, Bring in the Funk, Larry Marshall Tony Nominee, Ana Hernandez, and Linda Thompson; The Rev Winnie Varghese, Richard Witt, Nell Gibson, and Amelia Anderson speakers.

The Good Friday Blues Band; Stanley Banks, Bass, Bernice Brooks, Drummer, Jimmie Ponzi, Guitar, Ayodele Maakeru, string instruments, Rick Ulfick, Keyboards, Art Baron, Trombone, Stanton Davis, Trumpet, Jim Ferruiolo, Saxophone, Arturo Vera, Guitar;robert Milnes, and Anthony Donovan Harmonica.

Actors Tyrone Aiken, Brockton Pierce, Vinie Burrows, Larry Marshall, Herb Downer, Benji Dunn as well as the renowned Saint Marks Choir.
