"He may be 76, but Buddy Guy never gets old. "Live at Legends" is a crackling display of blues-guitar work Guy performed in 2010 at his original Chicago nightclub. Guy's tone is brash, his attitude is bold, and his playing is raw, making this album sound almost like a surreptitious bootleg rather than polished label release (perhaps something quickly cooked up upon learning Guy would be one of this year's Kennedy Center Honors recipients?). Along with seven live tracks there are three studio cuts originally from the "Living Proof" sessions. Guy stretches out most on "I Just Want to Make Love to You" (with "Chicken Heads" spliced in), steering it between funky and rocked out. Guy acknowledges the support Eric Clapton has shown over the years by incorporating Cream's "Strange Brew" and "Sunshine of Your Love" into medleys with John Lee Hooker's "Boom Boom" and Jimi Hendrix's "Voodoo Chile." The studio tracks run from the sleek "Coming for You" to the slow-burn come-ons "Country Boy" and "Polka Dot Love." Scott McLennan, Boston Globe
