Gary Burton’s Arrival: Celebrating 50 Years

Why, and Who: Since arriving as a student at Berklee in 1960, Gary Burton has led groups that have defined jazz's state-of-the-art for five decades, while forming lasting relationships and winning six Grammy Awards.

In a rousing, all-hands-on-deck retrospective celebration in the Berklee Performance Center this past April, Burton was joined by bandmates from his seminal groups. Artists heard on the broadcast include Chick Corea, John Scofield, Joe Lovano, Steve Swallow, Antonio Sanchez, Donny McCaslin, Jim Odgren, Makoto Ozone, and Tiger Okoshi; and his Next Generation Band with Julian Lage, Vadim Neselovskyi, Luques Curtis, and James Williams.
