Ray Vanderby To Play At Bathurst Triple Header

Jazzwest and Orange Jazz Club Incorporated present the Mike Nock Trio and the Ray Vanderby Quartet performing with the Bathurst Chamber Orchestra on Sunday 22nd May 2011 at the Bathurst Memorial Entertainment Centre at 3pm - 5.30pm as part of the annual Bathurst Heritage Autumn Festival. Internationally renowned jazz pianist composer Mike Nock turned 70 this year and just returned from concerts in Japan. This concert will launch the Trio's new album An Accumulation of Subtleties which was recorded live at the Sydney Opera House featuring Mike Nock-piano, Ben Waples-bass, James Waples-drums.

The Ray Vanderby Quartet featuring Ray Vanderby-piano, Henry Bialowas-bass, Dale Tuckey-sax, Ebbo Brown-drums will also launch their new album Narrambla Calling about Banjo Patterson's birthplace as they perform with the Bathurst Chamber Orchestra with string arrangements by Dale Tuckey and poetry narration by Michael Caulfield. Jazz meets poetry and classical! This is a special event not to be missed!

Ray Vanderby has an undying passion for composition, recording and performing and he shows no sign of slowing down. In February 2009 he founded the Orange Jazz Club Inc. which he uses as a vehicle for gigs and promoting modern contemporary jazz. Ray plays by ear and is constantly looking for new horizons to challenge the various forms of improvisation. In 2009 he recorded an album called Orange Not Blue with his Hammond Combo and in 2010 he released 2 jazz piano albums Amoresque with the Ray Vanderby Quartet and Ju Ju - Live at the Mirror Bar with the Ray Vanderby Trio.
