The Leonisa Ardizzone Quintet Swings Their Way Into Your Heart

The Leonisa Ardizzone Quintet adopts old-fashioned values and modern day recording techniques on their new release The Scent of Bitter Almonds. New York. NY, January 12, 2009 - The Leonisa Ardizzone Quintet adopts old-fashioned values and modern day recording techniques on their new release The Scent of Bitter Almonds…

The Quintet and the articulate and seasoned Leonisa Ardizzone takes swinging jazz tunes and then makes it a memorable trip for everyone. The vocalists' soft and sensual style allows her the flexibility to present perfected phrasing and at times the most enjoyable scatting in between her quintet's marvelous instrumental breaks. The musicianship is beyond reproach as it wraps itself around the dynamic Ardizzone's vocals on The Scent of Bitter Almonds…

Leonisa's passions for music and live performances can sometimes understate her roles as an educator and mother. Music and entertaining is the thing that feeds her soul and the music and vocals that come about because of those deep feelings result in a synergy that many artists struggle to attain their entire careers.

Besides crooning for the successful Leonisa Ardizzone Quintet, Leonisa is the Executive Director of the Salvadori Center in New York City. Leonisa recently released a book based on her work with NYC youth peace-builders entitled "Gettin' My Word Out: Voices of Urban Youth Activists". Her day to night transformations into the jazz diva that you hear on The Scent of Bitter Almonds… are like something you see in a super hero movie.

The Leonisa Ardizzone Quintet features Leonisa on vocals, Chris Jennings on guitar, Jess Jurkovic on piano, Justin Hines on drums and either Bob Sabin or Bob Bowen on bass.

Critics have praised the group, saying "After a listen to this exciting new jazz vocalist's debut, my first thoughts were where did Leonisa Ardizzone come from and where has she been?" – Michael Gladstone, All About Jazz

The Scent of Bitter Almonds…is available through CD Baby and the band's website. You can always read about more biographical information regarding band members and enjoy other available media on their official site.
