“The Power of a Song II”

Charitable organization The Healing Power of Music and musician/founder Ricky Fitzpatrick proudly announce the exciting start of a brand new CD project for 2009, "The Power of a Song II".

According to Fitzpatrick, "II" will be another amazing collection of over an hour of music, over 20 different songs and artists from all around the world, encompassing styles from jazz, country and classical to folk, pop and rock, all with positive lyrics and a belief in the therapeutic power of music. "The final artist roster is still being ironed out, but I can already say we have some of the best music by some of the most talented musicians I've ever heard. Music lovers will be captivated by artists they already know well, alongside other rising artists they may not have heard before (yet), like Matt Jones (Albuquerque, NM), Stephano Barone (Rome, Italy) or The Happy Endings (Melbourne, Australia)."

The Healing Power of Music (or HPM) has received local and international attention since its creation in 2006, for its efforts to provide free live and recorded music to hospital patients around the world, and for its status of being one of the very few organizations that uses a full 100% of raised funds directly for their cause. Currently, HPM is home to over 200 Artist Partners from 30 different countries, ranging from local bands to musical icons like James Taylor, Neil Young, Dolly Parton, Amy Grant, Steven Curtis Chapman, Randy Travis, Yanni, The Imagination Movers, Casting Crowns, Shawn Mullins, The Zac Brown Band and even local musician Corey Smith.

In 2008 "The Power of a Song", HPM's first CD project, was released with the cover art designed by local high school student, Erin Roberts. "We held a contest at my alma mater of JHS" said Fitzpatrick "and Jim Bryan (Art Instructor) and his students responded en mass with fantastic pieces to consider. We had over 6, 200 voters respond to that! I learned a lot from that project and this year, we'll all benefit from last year's experience and greater organization."

"The Power of a Song II" will also be released with an original cover design, chosen via a new contest and online voting, with the selection process beginning early 2009. According to Fitzpatrick, "We are still trying to select an Art program in the area to extend the contest to. Plus, I want to be very organized this year so the students are sure to benefit from their hard work and talent. I prefer a high school program because that gives these students a chance to be a part of something that will really expose their craft. And the level of creativity is simply amazing. But I'm also considering opening it to the general public too."
