Sallies’ Christmas CD goes ‘Miraculous Double Platinum’

For the second time in two weeks, the Salvation Army is celebrating the success of its first ever Christmas CD – "It's a Wrap". The CD has gone "miraculous double platinum", as 33, 750 copies have been eagerly snapped up by the NZ public.

Although it won't be officially given "double platinum" status, as the CD is available for a $5 donation, the achievement has been greeted with great excitement and delight by The Salvation Army. Forty thousand copies were produced and there are now only several thousand left in circulation, and are likely to be snapped up soon.

"We're absolutely thrilled with the success of the CD. We originally produced 35, 000 copies and had to produce another 5, 000 copies last week as they were being snapped up in a hurry. While we had high hopes and expectations that the CD would do well when we first launched it, we never thought that it'd almost sell out in just three weeks!" says The Salvation Army's Territorial Public Relations Secretary, Major Robert Ross.

Progressive's General Manager of Supermarket Operations, Dave Chambers says, "The CD has been a great hit with our customers and staff. It's great to know that all of our efforts will go toward The Salvation Army's outstanding work in our community."

The CD has been available for a $5 donation at all Countdown, Woolworths and Foodtown supermarkets since 24 November. The CD includes carols and contemporary Christmas songs in various styles (including Jazz, Big Band, and A Capella), and features the incredible Musical Island Boys – Porirua's World Champion barbershop quartet.

All proceeds from "It's a Wrap" will go toward The Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal. For those who miss out on getting a copy, you can still support The Salvation Army's Christmas Appeal by contacting 0800 53 00 00 to make a donation.
