The two people behind the whole project are Erik Moseholm and Birgit Vinge. In 2008 it will be the 11th time that they have organized the “Swinging Europe" concept. In 1998 they commissioned Pierre Dorge from Denmark to conduct, followed by Francois Theberge (France), Helge Albin (Sweden), Benjamin Herman (The Netherlands), Django Bates (UK), Bruno Tomasso (Italy) and Pedro Moreira (Portugal). Then in 2005 the EBU Big Band and “Swinging Europe" were merged. Since then the EBU's jazz producers have taken turns in choosing the composers and conductors - Vic Vogel (Canada) 2005, Barrie Forgie (UK) 2006 and Lars Moller (Denmark) 2007.

The project is kindly supported by the Culture Programme of the EU-Commission, the Danish Ministry of Culture and the Ikast-Brande Municipality.

EYJO is official partner of the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue 2008 .
