Dr John at Ponderosa Stomp

Mac Rebennack, better known to the world as Dr. John, will play at the Ponderosa Stomp on April 29. He and Jean Knight, best known for her hit "Mr. Big Stuff, " will perform with Wardell Quezergue and His Rhythm And Blues Revue. Rebennack will perform a rare set of his early music including guitar scorcher "Storm Warning." The Quezergue Revue will also be joined by soul greats Tammy Lynn and Tony Owens.

Two other early showcases will offer tastes of the full Ponderosa Stomp, to take place April 29 and 30 at New Orleans' House of Blues.

SXSW will also host a Stomp showcase, to rock the Continental Club on March 14. Scheduled to appear are Little Freddie King, Kenny and the Kasuals, Barbara Lynn, Ralph Soul Jackson, Herman Hitson, Wiley and the Checkmates, Barbara Mason, Michael Hurtt and the Haunted Hearts, and The Flaming Arrows Mardi Gras Indians.

New Orleans' Jazzfest will host a Stomp showcase on April 26 featuring Tammy Lynn, Archie Bell, Roy Head, and Dennis Binder.

The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation celebrates the legacy, revitalizes the careers and preserves the history of American music's unsung heroes. Through oral histories with musical stylists, iconoclasts, and trailblazers, and a regular concert series staged at New Orleans' Ogden Museum of Southern Art, among other concerts including its signature annual concert, The Ponderosa Stomp Foundation provides musical legends a platform to perform and expose audiences to their pioneering cultural contributions to American contemporary music.
