„January“ tour by the Marcin Wasilewski Trio

Rave reviews and packed clubs for "January" tour by the Marcin Wasilewski Trio in Germany and Switzerland. The Polish trio has started its tour accompanying the release of the new ECM-album "January" in packed clubs in Berlin, Bielefeld and Munich followed by concerts in Bern and Zurich.

The gripping gigs that had the audiences craving for series of encores and for the new album offered a carefully composed mix of freely played tuneful ballads like "Cinema Paradiso" by Ennio Morricone or Prince's "Diamonds and Pearls", highly virtuosic up-tempo pieces and more ballads, many of them of Marcin's own composition.

First press reactions to the record are unanimous in their praise. "Melodic transparency and a wide rhythmic scope are the characteristics of this young trio, achieving an incredible poetic density here", remarks "Die Zeit" in its recommendations. Ulrich Steinmetzger, writing in the Swiss capital's "Berner Zeitung", hails the artistic ascent of the band as a "wonderful, sustaining and quite extraordinary event". Berthold Klostermann, in his five-star review for the magazine "Fono Forum", celebrates "a trio in its own class" that sticks to its concept of a "threesome of completely equal partners".

The tour was completed with performances in Fürstenfeldbruck, Tübingen (D) and Saalfelden (A), and will be continued by concerts at the Jazzfestival in Bielsko-Biala, in Warsaw and other Polish cities in February. A US tour for March is in preparation. For more information please visit www.ecmrecords.com/tours.
