Jazz Talk: Race in Jazz Academia

Jazz at Lincoln Center announced today the panelists for the inaugural event in a series of lectures on how issues of race affect the teaching of jazz, on February 7, 2007. The event will be held in the Irene Diamond Education Center at Frederick P. Rose Hall, home of Jazz at Lincoln Center.

Join professor and pianist Dr. Lewis Porter serving as moderator, along with panelists including legendary poet, author and jazz critic Amiri Baraka, professor and saxophonist Dr. Salim Washington, and professors Dr. Guthrie Ramsey and Dr. Ingrid Monson, as they share personal experiences, and provide insights into the general state of jazz education today.
