Craig Buhler Releases Capistrano Sessions

Craig Buhler, a highly respected and well-versed clarinetist and saxophonist from the Seattle area announced the release of his new CD, Capistrano Sessions on Discernment Music. Buhler's new release is an authentic jazz quintet setting with beautifully composed original jazz selections that draw its inspiration from the people and places titled in each track. Capistrano Sessions features 11 newly composed original compositions in sparkling performances by drummer Paul Kreibich (formerly with Ray Charles: ), pianist Dave Witham (Music Director for George Benson:), trumpet & vibes player Brian Atkinson (Disneyland Band, Lou Rawls), & bassist Joel Hamilton (Phil Woods). Produced by Richard Stekol (HONK:). Buhler's ability to create vivid harmonic color and rich textures is a key ingredient in this recipe of seasoned veterans.

Please join the quintet for the Orange County leg of their tour, as they present a night of original jazz highlighting compositions from their new release Capistrano Sessions. The quintet will be performing at the premier OC jazz venue Renaissance Dana Point

Woodwind player Craig Buhler has been with HONK since 1972. He also plays with the Stardust Big Band in Seattle, has produced 6 of his own jazz CDs, and has appeared on 25 other recordings and with numerous jazz & pop artists.

Drummer Paul Kreibich has toured and recorded with Ray Charles (4 yrs.), Gene Harris (5 yrs.), Woody Herman, Mose Alliseon, etc. If you listen to 88.1 KJAZZ, you will hear Paul's work frequently.

Pianist Karen Hammack has appeared with Joe LaBarbera, Eric Marienthal, Melissa Manchester, Tim Weisberg, etc. Karen & Paul both played in Craig's 1970's group "Storyville, " and Karen is well known to Orange County audiences for her work with the Missles.

Trumpeter / Vibraphonist Brian Atkinson is in the Disneyland Band and has appeared with Lou Rawls, Natalie Cole, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, etc.

Bassist Joel Hamilton is a first call L.A. studio musician and has performed with Phil Woods, Bill Holman Orchestra, and many other fine jazz organizations.
