Red Cat Publicity Celebrates Its Second Year

This January, fifteen-year music industry veteran Jason Byrne celebrates the two-year anniversary of Red Cat Publicity, a one man show offering creative and energetic publicity services to artists who perform and record jazz, world and improvised music.

Red Cat Publicity was officially launched with a highly publicized CD release and a sold out CD release performance at Joe's Pub by guitarist/composer Rez Abbasi on January 15, 2005. In the first two years of operation Red Cat Publicity orchestrated successful publicity campaigns for artists such as Pete Malinverni, Chris Potter, David Berger, Will Holshouser, Mark Egan, The Jazz Icons DVD series, Anton Schwartz, Peter Eldridge, Kathy Kosins, Dave Douglas, The Festival of New Trumpet Music, bassist Avishai Cohen, Roni Ben-Hur, Mick Rossi, The Brooklyn Sax Quartet, Arthur Kell, The Tribeca Performing Arts Center (Monk In Motion concert series), and many others.

In the first half of 2007 Red Cat Publicity will be proudly representing The Brooklyn Jazz Underground (launch festival taking place at Smalls, January 11-14), Grammy-nominated trombonist/composer/arranger John Fedchock and his New York Big Band (Reservoir Music, February release date); guitarist/composer Miles Okazaki (debut release: Mirror, release date is April 10); The Neil Cowley Trio, from the U.K. (debut release: Displaced - March U.S. release date, "Debut of the year." - MOJO Magazine); guitarist/composer Roni Ben-Hur (Keepin' It Open - Release date is May 1 on Motema Music); The Tribeca Performing Arts Center's "Lost Jazz Shrines" series (celebrating "Tin Palace" - May 18, June 1 & 15), and many others.

Byrne got his start in the music business at GRP Records in 1992 working as an assistant to Dave Grusin and Larry Rosen. He moved on to the position of coordinator in the company's international division, and eventually headed up the department, as Director of International Marketing, during one of its most profitable periods. Following GRP, Byrne worked briefly as part of the marketing team at Chesky Records before becoming the senior publicist at Third Floor/EastWest Media.

With the opening of Red Cat Publicity in January 2005 Byrne was able to offer creative artists publicity services with intensity and dedication. Being an experienced publicist, and musician, he is in a position to be an effective press agent for artists wishing to expand their awareness and audience, and further their careers.
