Craig Alston Joins Genese Music and Entertainment

Craig Alston joins Genese Music and Entertainment as Senior Consultant for Obia Soul. His previous experience working with national and international artist was sought out to assist interim director Ronald Rolling develop Obia Soul's immediate direction.

Genese Music and Entertainment warmly welcomes international jazz/soul artist Craig Alston as Senior Consultant for Obia Soul. This is one of many moves Genese Music is making to stabilize the Obia Soul imprint prior to its February 3rd launch.

Ralph Rogers said, "Ronald (Rolling) has a strong business sense, ability to communicate ideas, and work with people to get things done. However, we wanted to team Ron up with someone who could ensure the music would go in the right direction. If a person takes a look at the body of work that Craig (Alston) has made contributions to, he has musically proven himself."

Previously Craig Alston has done work with David Murray, Oliver Lake, John Hicks, Julie Dexter, the Basement boys, Dj Spen, and Lafayette Gilchrest, Deborah Bond, and a host of others. He also maintains to be a fixture in the neo-soul/jazz group "Fertile Ground", based out of Baltimore.

Craig's undergraduate study includes a stint at Morgan State University as a Music Education major. However, his dream was always to become a solid jazz musician and eventually lead his own band. During the process of honing his craft Craig joined Fertile Ground and began to tour internationally to the United Kingdome, Japan, Belgium, France, Croatia, Austria, and elsewhere. The broad exposure has allowed him to learn and grow from the various musicians and styles encountered.
