The Michael Packer Blues Band at Sweet Rhythm

Sweet Rhythm at 88 Seventh Avenue is a Greenwich Village jazz landmark. Sweet Rhythm is home to such jazz greats as Sonny Fortune, Bob Mintzer and Hilton Ruiz. On Wednesday February 1, 2006 the club will be home for some real New York blues, The Michael Packer Blues Band.

The band that night will feature guitarist Michael Packer's special guests David Maxwell, Jimmy Vivino and Felix Cabrera.David Maxwell is considered one of the finest blues piano players in the world having learned from the blues master Otis Spann. He has performed with James Cotton, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt and Muddy Waters.Jimmy Vivino is seen every night as guitarist for Max Weinburg7(Bruce Springstein) on Late Nite with Conan O'Brien.Blues harp player Felix Cabrera is the closest your going to get to finding another Paul Butterfied.Rounding out the band is Ed Jackson - percossion, King Bear - bass and WFDU's Keith Mulhare on drums.

This is a special night for bandleader Michael Packer.The gig will be recorded by Blue Note sound engineer Jack OHara and will be released in the near future. A must for blues fans.
