BrazilMax Radio Brings Flávio Guimarães to the World

The inaugural program of BrazilMax Radio, an online program featuring independent Brazilian music, is now available for listening on the BrazilMax website. BrazilMax Radio is associated with BrazilMax Music - the fair trade download store that also specializes in independent music. BrazilMax Radio is hosted by Bill Hinchberger, a California native and veteran Brazil-based foreign correspondent who founded and edits BrazilMax: Bill’s special guest on the inaugural program is Flávio Guimarães, described by a Brazilian music magazine as “the synonym of the Brazilian harmonica.” A native of Rio de Janeiro, Guimarães began his career in the 1980s with the blues-rock bank Blues Etílicos, which continues to see active service.

In the 1990s he launched an independent career that has included collaborations with blues artists like Charlie Musselwhite, Howard Levy, Mark Hummell, Mark Ford and Sugar Blue. In Brazil, he has played with top names like Paulo Moura, Ed Motta, Titãs and Cassia Eller.

BrazilMax is “the hip guide to Brazil.” Acclaimed in The Guardian of London, the SonntagsZeitung of Zurich and O Dia of Rio de Janeiro, BrazilMax features information on travel, culture, history and nature. Editor and founder Hinchberger is a former correspondent in Brazil for The Financial Times and Business Week.
