Tale of Tales Reveals First Playable Character in The Path

The Path is a short horror game inspired by Little Red Ridinghood. In it, you get to play not one, but six incarnations of the famous female protagonist. We call them the Red Girls, sisters, each of a different age and with a distinct personality. Each destined for devastation. Now, Tale of Tales are revealing the youngest sibling: Robin. Robin is about nine years old. A very lively child. She loves playing in the forest. Only on the path, of course. Mother tells her to never go into the woods. She never says why. Robin thinks there may by fun things to play with in the forest. She sometimes hears the creaking sounds of what seems to be a swing! Or the howl of a wolf in the distance! Robin likes wolves. They are her favourite kind of animal!

Little does she know that the Wolf likes her as well. But not quite in the same way. There are very good reasons why you should never stray from the path. The forest patiently waits for young girls to crush them in its deadly embrace. Will you be the one who signs her fate?

Robin has opened her own Livejournal where she will be sharing the last days of her young life as the production of the game continues.

The Path website now features nice new pictures of Robin and a special Robin desktop wallpaper to download. So you can already get a little taste of the wonderful experience that The Path will be. Tale of Tales will be revealing all six playable characters over the coming months, one every fortnight.

The Path is being developed by Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn in the small independent studio of Tale of Tales in Belgium - also responsible for The Endless Forest and The Graveyard. It is a unique interactive experience that focuses on atmosphere and storytelling rather than on skills and achievements. Auriea Harvey and Michael Samyn work to expand the medium of games towards a wider diversity of themes and emotional content. The music for The Path is being created by Jarboe and the character animations by Laura Raines Smith. The Path will be released early 2009 for PC.
