Sky Movies Sci-fi & Horror Becomes Official Broadcast Sponsor at Sixth Sci-Fi-London Film Festival

It has been announced that Sky will for the first time sponsor this year's Sci-Fi-London film festival to celebrate the launch of the new Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror channel. Sci-Fi-London is the UK's only dedicated Science Fiction and Fantastic film festival and is now in its sixth year. The international festival runs from 2nd - 6th May 2007 and boasts a high-calibre line up of films, visiting speakers and, of course, the infamous film all-nighter and sci-fi pub quiz.

At the festival Sky Movies Sci-Fi & Horror will be hosting the world premiere of the quirky UK comedy Captain Eager starring Tamsin Greig and Mark Heap (both of Green Wing fame) and showcasing some of the great titles coming up on the new movie channel and fantastic Sci-Fi shows available on Sky One.

From April 4th the Sky Movies service is to be repackaged into a number of genre-based channels including Sci-Fi & Horror as well as Comedy, Family, Classic, Action & Thriller, Drama, Indie, Modern Greats and Premiere. The new Sci-Fi and Horror channel will offer everything from gory chills and thrills, to mind-expanding sci-fi.

Sci-Fi-London will be officially opened by Roger Corman, the father of independent cinema, and will host ? among many exclusives ? the first international Cult Film Conference. The 2007 Arthur C. Clarke Award for science fiction literature will be awarded, and more than 40 presentations are to be delivered by the genre's leading academics.
