IGN: Halo 3 and Legend of Zelda Are the Most Anticipated Titles

IGN Entertainment's GamerMetrics reveals Halo 3 and The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess already look to dominate the 2006 holiday season heading into this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3), taking place May 10 - 12 in Los Angeles, Calif. The Legend of Zelda took the top spot in 2005 as well. In The Gamer Metrics Guide to E3 2006, IGN outlines industry trends that will play out over the next year and lays out the most anticipated games and surprise hits.

According to GamerMetrics, the following titles topped the list as
this year's most anticipated E3 games across all platforms:
1. Halo 3 (X360 - Microsoft)
2. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess (GCN - Nintendo)
3. Gears of War (X360, PC - Microsoft)
4. Final Fantasy XII (PS2 - Square Enix)
5. WWE SmackDown vs. RAW 2007 (PS3, X360, PS2, PSP - THQ)
6. Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Double Agent (X360, PS2, Xbox, GCN -
Ubisoft)

Overall, next-generation titles account for 47% of mindshare, with first party publishers and Electronic Arts in the lead. Gamer next-generation platform allegiance lies with Playstation 3 at 36%, Xbox 360 at 28%, and Nintendo Revolution at 22%, with a full 14% of gamers undecided.
