Hudson Entertainment Brings Back Bonk

Hudson Entertainment has announced that their hit video game franchise, Bonk, is coming to mobile phones for the first time. "Bonk's Return", a platform game starring the classic caveman, is planned for release to the North American market in the summer of 2006, for both Brew and Java platforms.

Bonk originally launched as a comic strip in the PC Engine magazine in the 80's in Japan. The character was known for being wacky and over the top, with his caveman ways and explosive personality. Bonk became so popular that he was soon elevated to video game icon status, as Hudson Soft made him the mascot character for the TurboGrafx system in 1990. The game went on to win numerous awards, including Game of the Year for the system. Sequels and spin offs were introduced with great fanfare over the years, and the character found his way to other platforms including arcade systems, Super Nintendo, Game Boy, and Playstation 2. It has been a number of years since the crazy character has been on any system, and Hudson is reintroducing the character for the 2000's.

Evil King Drool is up to it again. The year is 10.000 B.C. and as Bonk the Caveman, it's your job to find and defeat Evil King Drool. Unfortunately, there are no weapons around, so you'll have to use your head ? literally. "Bonk's Return" is a retelling of the original game "Bonk's Adventure, " bringing all the gameplay and memorable characters from the classic game onto mobile. Developed by Two Tribes, "Bonk's Return" brings the headstrong caveman to mobile phones for the first time.

"Bonk's Return" also features:
# 13 unique, prehistoric landscapes
# 4 challenging mini games, including "Lava Lobbing, " Mad Dash Run, and Spring Flower Challenges.
# All of Bonk's crazy moves and power ups, including head bonk, climbing with his teeth, and powering up into rage mode.
# Bonk's favorite enemies are back ? Chikkuns, Wicked Florets, and Dodogies.
# A dramatic, final boss battle against King Drool.
