First Class Simulations goes all Irish

Entitled Enterprise after the Premier express train synonymous with the route, First Class Simulations announced that it has secured a licensing deal with UK train sim developer Making Tracks for the publication of its Ireland based Microsoft Train Simulator add-on of the same name.

Enterprise was originally conceived as a Belfast to Dublin project. However, the route will now be published in two parts with Irish Enterprise North featuring the 55-mile journey from Belfast to Dundalk and arriving first on 17th March 2006. Irish Enterprise South covering the stretch from Dundalk to Dublin will appear later on during 2006. Both titles will be set during the 1995 to 2005 period and feature the upgrades made to the route during 1998-99 which included the introduction of 90mph operation, welded rails, colour light signalling and central train control.

The Belfast to Dublin route is served by a variety of diesel and multiple unit type trains ranging from the British built Mk2 air conditioned stock to the French built De Dietrich 'Enterprise' stock based on the 'Eurostar' coach design. Locomotives featured are from the US built by General Motors. A variety of multiple unit designs also feature, ranging from the venerable BR built Diesel Electric Mk2 units in the North currently in their final months of operation to new Spanish built four car commuter sets in the South.

As well as fast locomotive hauled passenger trains, commuter services are included as are cross border freight services which containers, cement and of course, beer.

All trains and stock are being built to the exacting standards for which Making Tracks is building a reputation for accuracy and quality. Eventually Irish Enterprise North and irish Enterprise South will be linked into one large route.

The dedicated team whose previous 'Ballyshannon' route and stock introduced Irish rail sim fans to Microsoft Train Simulator is working towards a March 17th release date.
