The NVIDIA? Championships at QuakeCon 2005

The NVIDIA Championships at QuakeCon will take on a slightly different flavor in 2005, with new tournaments for gamers to show off their skills as part the 10th annual QuakeCon, the largest four day gaming festival in North America. The Gaylord Texan Resort and Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas will be ground zero for more than 6, 000 rabid gamers, all with the chance to compete for $150, 000 in cash courtesy of title sponsor NVIDIA, the worldwide leader in graphics processing.

"QuakeCon is the ultimate event that celebrates PC gaming - community, teamwork, and the interest in enjoying interactive entertainment, and the desire to get the most out of today's technology, " said Bill Rehbock, director of developer relations, NVIDIA. "We are proud to sponsor the 10th annual QuakeCon again this year, powering all of the tournaments and exciting action that thousands of gamers and PC enthusiasts will enjoy."

In addition to big-dollar tournament action, QuakeCon offers attendees four days of non-stop activity, including: a BYOC (Bring Your Own Computer) LAN party for more than 3, 000 players, keynotes and workshops with technology and game industry leaders, the latest games and hardware on display in the exhibit hall and first-class parties and entertainment.

"NVIDIA's incredible support, the return of a tournament classic with QUAKE II, and an official $30, 000 all-female championship is an unbeatable combination guaranteed to get the fans fired up for QuakeCon 2005, " said Todd Hollenshead, CEO, id Software. "With $150, 000 of NVIDIA prize money on the line, this year's competition will be extraordinary."
