Stone+tec 2018: Anniversary round brings the stone industry together

In this its 20th round, Stone+tec, the international trade fair for natural stone and stone technology, combines innovations, expertise and inspiration for stone as a material. From 13 to 16 June, companies from around the world will showcase material, technology and accessories in four exhibition halls in Nuremberg. The completely revamped supporting programme brings the fascination of stone to life in presentations, discussions and special shows and provides tips for the business of the future. Key topics include stone and sustainability, inspiration for cemeteries and trends in machinery.

Stone+tec is the market place and meeting point for the European stone sector. In four halls, exhibitors will present a wide range of solutions for gravestones, construction, monuments and design. This is where stonemasons, stone engineers, architects and all those who work with stone will find material, technology, accessories and services. Almost a third of exhibitors are showing natural stone in a wide range of variants or new kinds of materials. "At Stone+tec, the industry can experience stone at its best, highlighting its variety, sustainability and individuality!" stresses Beate Fischer, Exhibition Director Stone+tec at NürnbergMesse. "Take a look around here and you will discover the latest machining technology, popular natural stone and materials and a lot of useful solutions for your business. We have also worked with our honorary sponsors BIV and DNV to put together an exciting supporting programme."

The programme covers trends in construction and design but also developments in the important cemetery segment.

New feature: central forum
In the newly designed central forum in Hall 9, visitors can acquire additional specialist expertise during the entire trade fair. Every day there are discussion panels with experts on the topic of machine technology. Another series of presentations covers sustainability in the construction industry, while another part of the programme focuses on cemeteries. In this context, the BIV is organising the Forum Cemetery, featuring new ideas for cemeteries and gravestones, on the second day of the event. For the first time, the Cemetery Culture Congress, which is expecting more than 250 delegates, will take place parallel to the trade fair. With numerous exhibitors showcasing gravestones and grave ornaments, Stone+tec offers more inspiration for this segment than any other event.

Trending topics native stone and interior fittings
In Hall 9, the extensive special show "Our natural stone – working together for a sustainable future" will be a major drawcard. At this fully booked show, 15 companies will present natural stone from Germany and neighbouring countries. Visitors can see each type of stone as a raw slab and a finished item. The second special show "Technology and Chemicals: Worktops" is designed for businesses wanting to enhance their capabilities in kitchen worktops. Visitors to this show will find the kinds of machines and construction chemicals they need to produce efficient and contemporary interior fittings.

German Natural Stone Award and Young Talent Competition
On the first day of the fair the German Natural Stone Association will present the renowned German Natural Stone Award, one of the most important architectural awards in the country. All projects nominated including prize winners are on display at Stone+tec 2018. In this competition, young stonemasons from all over Europe compete against one another to creatively interpret the theme "Paths of Life".

Mastering the future together
Stone+tec brings the stone community together to jointly navigate the future of the craft and share a passion for stone as a material. The trade fair exhibitors' party on 14 June and the Stonemasons' Get-together on the evening of 15 June are just two opportunities for networking, talking shop and partying.
