Technology 17 event of industrial trade fairs presents Finnish industry’s growth potential and opportunities

Technology 17 event, arranged on 10-12 October 2017 in Messukeskus Helsinki, Expo and Convention Centre, is the most comprehensive trade event on industrial technology organised in the Nordic Countries. The event displays an overview of the latest trends and developments in industrial technologies, machinery, machines, production equipment, products, and services. Technology 17 brings under one roof seven separate trade fairs, focused on automation, hydraulics and pneumatics, machinery manufacturing industry, mechanical engineering industry, robotics, and maintenance, respectively. The previous edition of the event in 2015 gathered over 14,000 visitors.

Automation Fair provides a platform for mutual interaction and communication to the decision-makers, experts, designers, and users of automation solutions, as well as the companies exhibiting automation products and systems. The fair is organised in collaboration with the Finnish Society of Automation. Elkom Fair reviews industrial electronics, telecommunications, IT components and equipment, production tools and contract manufacturing, and is organised in collaboration with the Suppliers of Electronic Instruments and Components Association ELKOMIT and the Telecommunication and Electronics Association TiES. Hydraulics & Pneumatics Fair is an exhibition platform for hydraulic, pneumatic and water hydraulic systems, products, and services, organised in collaboration with the Finnish Hydraulics & Pneumatics Association FHPA. MecaTec is a trade fair for machinery manufacturing professionals, organised in collaboration with the Association of Finnish Technical Traders. FinnTec Fair for mechanical engineering industry professionals focuses on machinery, machines, production equipment and services. RoboSteam is a trade event displaying an extensive range of the latest developments in the field of robotics and the far-reaching application potential of robotics. Maintenance Fair focuses on the interoperation of various industrial processes. The development of technology and the Industrial Internet of Things has made maintenance, and proactive maintenance in particular, one of the key factors in the improvement of production reliability and business continuity.

Theme – competitive edge delivered by means of optimal utilisation of information and productisation of services
Digitalisation is the key transformative force driving Finnish technology industry. The event seeks to address the challenges posed by the optimal utilisation of information and productisation of services. The Industrial Internet of Things, software applications, and Big Data are increasingly vital in productisation. When an innovation is productised and developed into a special niche top service, this overall process continuum and outcome creates a significant competitive edge.

Event programme designed to attract a wide professional audience
Two event stages will be erected in the exhibition space, one in the Plaza area and the other in the Innovation area. The Technology Forum is a thematic series of seminars which provide fresh insights into future technologies. The programme is drawn up in close collaboration with e.g. Aalto University, the Finnish Funding Agency for Innovation (Tekes), VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland Ltd, and other expert parties and bodies. The Innovation area is a showcasing platform for startup companies, universities, social media and networking, students, and inventions.
