Paperworld 2017: New 'Future Office' special exhibition with insights into tomorrow’s working world

Paperworld from 28 to 31 January 2017 will offer insights into the office of the future. At the world's leading trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery, trade visitors will be able to see for themselves what tomorrow's working world is expected to look like – a world that is having to adapt to new kinds of working relationships and the increasing pace of digitalisation. Specific examples of what form the new working world could take and what can already be implemented will be presented at the new 'Future Office' special exhibition in Hall 3.0 (Stand C51) at Paperworld 2017.

In the future, office buildings will have completely new room concepts, which will give rise to a demand for new products. The office space is split into: a communication zone for spontaneous knowledge transfer and internal get-togethers with colleagues; a concentration zone as a refuge; a meeting zone for exchanging information with external guests and an inspiration zone for relaxing or generating new ideas. Trade visitors can explore these zones at the special exhibition, which pays particular attention to climate, acoustics, ergonomics and catering. Naturally, they will be able to experience the zones of the 'Future Office' and immerse themselves in tomorrow's opportunities and needs, as well as discover a host of innovative products, from interactive presentation equipment, via ergonomic office furniture, to digital writing utensils and individually controllable lighting. "The new special exhibition is aimed at all Paperworld trade visitors who want to get a glimpse of tomorrow's office world. Moreover, it will also be of great interest to architects, interior architects, planners and facility managers because it shows how our workplaces could be planned in a few years. For paper, office supplies and stationery manufacturers, the exhibition reveals the new product-development opportunities likely to be created by the changing working world", says Paperworld Director Michael Reichhold. Additionally, daily guided tours, lectures and best-practice examples will illustrate the possibilities and innovations of the office of the future.

Responsibility for the planning and design of the special exhibition has been assumed by the renowned architecture platform, World Architects, in cooperation with internationally renowned architect André Schmidt from Berlin.

Working Spaces 2025 come to life in the 'Future Office'
The concept of the special exhibition is based on a study into how our workplaces will change over time. Messe Frankfurt commissioned the Pragma Institute to carry out the 'Working Spaces 2025' study for Paperworld. It shows that tomorrow's office will have to adapt more to the changing working methods, communication needs and new collaboration models resulting from digitalisation and globalisation. 61 percent of the German office employees polled are already calling for more flexible structures in the office environment, which means it is all the more important that companies introduce an open office landscape with quiet areas and meeting zones.

Tomorrow's office work will be more flexible, multi-local, more individual and sustainable. These changes are accompanied by buzzwords, such as Industry 4.0, Cloud Computing, Internet of Things and Big Data, and will lead to a process of rethinking in the working world. Cooperation and self-organisation will be decisive factors for success in tomorrow's complex and digital working environment. Cost effectiveness, e.g., the efficient use of space, will also play an important role in the office of the future. Soft issues, such as working climate, flexible employment models and work-life balance will increase in significance.

"We have taken account of the results of the study, current developments and models of the future in our plans for the special exhibition at Paperworld 2017. We will not know how accurate our plans for the 'Future Office' are for another ten years or so. However, I am confident that we can already give a good impression of tomorrow's working world", says cooperation partner and architect of the special exhibition, André Schmidt.

Future-oriented new products from around 1,500 exhibitors
The manufacturers of office supplies, accessories and furnishings taking part in Paperworld 2017 will also give an initial impression of tomorrow's workplace with their innovations and new products. In Halls 3.0, 4.0 and 6.0, visitors will find office machines, equipment and furnishings, as well as organisational and presentation aids, office paper, writing and drawing utensils, IT and printer accessories and remanufactured printer materials. This broad spectrum of products covers all segments of the 'visionary office' and can only be found in this breadth and depth in Frankfurt am Main. "On almost 40, 000 square metres of exhibition space at Paperworld, trade visitors can discover the new products and trends that make office work more efficient, healthier and more mobile", says Paperworld Director Michael Reichhold. Rounding off this multifarious spectrum is the stationery segment in Halls 5.1 and 6.1, where products for giving, packaging and parties, as well as high-grade writing utensils, bags and accessories for private paper and stationery users, are to be found.
