Christmasworld 2017 offers 'Happy New Business'

Anyone, who is keen to start the new year with some new ideas, updated knowledge, a selection of products that are bang on trend and some positive business contacts, will find a plentiful supply of all these things at the leading international trade fair for seasonal and festive decoration. Christmasworld in Frankfurt am Main, from 27 to 31 January 2017, with over 900 international exhibitors, will provide abundant inspiration for new product lines, shop layouts and window displays. In addition, the events programme will contain valuable expertise and practical know-how with suggestions that individual trade buyers can use to attract customers.

For the high-street retail trade, Christmas remains the top-selling time of the year. "Things that are particularly effective during this period – like, for instance, beautiful, emotive staging of products and storytelling – can definitely be transferred to the rest of the year, as our special shows and lectures demonstrate, " says Eva Olbrich, Director of Christmasworld at Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. As a result, the extensive complementary programme will be banking on new growth potential – both for Christmas and for every other occasion and every other festival throughout the year. All events in the complementary programme are included in the price of a ticket to Christmasworld.

Christmasworld Trend Show - 'Delightful moment'
Derived from currents in society and in interior design, the Bora.Herke.Palmisano Trend Bureau provides, in the Christmasworld Trend Show, helpful suggestions for putting together retail product selections. They have called their new leitmotif for the 17/18 festive season 'Delightful moment'. They are staging four scenarios using the exhibitors' products, which conjure up a particular festive moment in each case – 'a fanciful celebration of joy', 'a valuable handling with tradition', 'a gentle touch of nature' and 'a distinctive figure of modernity'. All buyers need to do is to choose the highlights for their own individual collections from this carefully pre-selected range of the up-coming themes, colours, designs and materials. All the products used in the scenarios are identified with the name and stand number of the relevant exhibitor.

Special Show: 'Surprise, Surprise'
The clue is in the name of the new Special Show by 2Dezign. This much we already know: our trade buyers will be transported to a whole new world and overwhelmed by this gigantic setting of seasonal and festive decoration in sugar-and-candy colours. Buying is set to become an emotional experience – and not only at Christmastime. Rudi Tuinman and Pascal Koeleman from 2Dezign have now been designing special displays, unique in both their size and their impact, for six years. As a result, they have been inspiring the trade to create extravagant displays for large-scale public areas, shop windows and sales floors, which magically attract customers through the completely unexpected effects they present.

Christmasworld Forum
Practically based lectures and workshops refresh people's expertise and disseminate knowledge. Every day the Christmasworld Forum offers a rolling programme of lectures and workshops on important issues in the sector – such as marketing, customer appeal, e‑commerce and supplementary product ranges. All lectures are simultaneously translated into English and participation is free of charge.

Competition: Best Christmas City
This year, the focus is on municipal identity. The search is on for the town or city with the most creative Christmas campaign, one that most harmoniously represents - and gives visual expression to - the individual town's or city's image at this most beautiful time of the year. This includes atmospherically illuminated shopping streets and Christmas markets as well as specific promotional activities. The best examples will win the accolade of 'Best Christmas City' in the competition. The award is being offered for the third time. Partners in the enterprise are the German Association of City and Town Marketing (Bundesvereinigung City- und Stadtmarketing Deutschland e. V. - bcsd) and the trade journal 'Public Marketing'. From November, all German towns and cities are being asked to describe their promotional campaigns in words and pictures and to upload them to: www.BestChristmasCity.de. The online judging will continue until the beginning of January 2017. The Public's Award will go the town or city at the top of the list, with the most online votes. On top of that, a specialist panel of adjudicators will decide the prize winners in three categories: small towns, medium-sized towns and cities. The winners will be announced at the show.

Premium Business Programme
This exclusive networking and lecture programme is aimed at top international decision-makers involved in interior and exterior decorations in shopping centres, companies in the wholesale and retail trades, municipal authorities in towns and villages, as well as operators of Christmas markets and leisure parks, innovative designers and decoration consultants. The agenda includes lectures on best practice by well-known experts from the sector. They will cover, for instance, the question as to how retailers can best use light to create a scenario at the point of sale that will increase customer footfall. Christmasworld is organising the Premium Programme jointly with the German Council of Shopping Centers (GCSC) and the German Association of City and Town Marketing (Bundesvereinigung City- und Stadtmarketing Deutschland e. V. - bcsd).

Special Interests: Concept Decorations, German Christmas Crafts and Asia Select
Special product ranges can be found quickly and easily in the Exhibition Centre. In their 'Special Interests' section, Christmasworld highlights suppliers of specific types of goods. 'Concept Decorations' takes visitors directly to exhibitors, who have available specific product ranges for professionals involved in the decoration of large-scale, exterior spaces. The 'German Christmas Crafts' icon takes our trade visitors to hand-made Christmas decorations 'made in Germany'. 'Asia Select' stands for selected individual Asian exhibitors who offer seasonal decorations that can be ordered in medium-sized and large volumes. 'Special Interest' identifiers can be found both as a logo on the relevant exhibition stands and as a search criterion in the online exhibitor search, to be found in the Christmasworld Navigator App and in the official trade-fair catalogue.

New: Floradecora
Be it for Valentine's Day, Easter, Mother's Day, weddings or garden parties – the year offers many happy moments as well as Christmas, all of which cry out for decoration. And there is no excuse for not including fresh flowers, decorative plants and effective flower arrangements. From 2017, Floradecora will be offering precisely such products at Christmasworld. So that, in future, buyers will not only be able to order 'hard' decorative goods in Frankfurt, but also 'fresh' flowers and plants for their selections of seasonal and festive decorations. This innovative trade-fair concept, designed for immediately available flowers and plants, is being launched with a uniquely staged display area and with its own programme of workshops and lectures in Hall 11.1.

Quartet of trade fairs with added value
The concurrently held trade fairs offer valuable synergies for Christmasworld and Floradecora buyers - Paperworld, international trade fair for paper, office supplies and stationery products, and Creativeworld, international trade fair for creative hobbies, arts & crafts and artists' requisites (28 – 31 January 2017). Decoration, writing and craftwork are becoming ever more closely associated in the minds of retailers and, at the end of the day, of end-consumers, too. Thus, the new grouping of four trade fairs, brings additional stimulus for business and contact: not least, for example, in terms of sensible extensions to the product ranges on offer in one's shop.
