Techtextil and Texprocess 2017: the registration process has begun

Functional fibres in Frankfurt am Main: the 17th Techtextil, International Trade Fair for Technical Textiles and Nonwovens, and the 4th Texprocess, Leading International Trade Fair for Processing Textile and Flexible Materials, will show just how flexibly textiles can be used and processed from 9 to 12 May 2017. Extending the duration of the fairs from three to four days was a success last year and is being retained. At the request of the exhibitors, however, the sequence of days has changed and the two fairs will now be held from Tuesday to Friday. Registrations are now possible.

One of the focal points of Techtextil 2017 will be functional textiles and nonwovens, from smart textiles, via wearables, to textile products for sport, medicine or hazard protection. With the Techtextil Symposium, the Techtextil Innovation Award and the 'Textile Structure for New Building' competition for students, Techtextil will once again be distinguished by a comprehensive complementary programme of events with expert lectures and discussions, as well as insights into spectacular ideas and technical innovations in the sector.

"Functional textiles are already an everyday part of modern life. Finished with supplementary functions, these smart textiles are conquering a wide range of applications from automobile manufacturing to medicine. Techtextil and Texprocess 2017 are a must for textile manufacturers, users and processors who want to find out about the latest international developments and solutions in the field of intelligent textiles", says Olaf Schmidt, Vice President Textiles & Textile Technologie at Messe Frankfurt.

After three editions, Texprocess has become firmly established in the market and, next year, will show every individual stage of the textile production process up to and including finishing. Particular emphasis will be given to digital printing for garment and functional textiles, one of the expanding technical-textile markets, and textile finishing. Also in the spotlight: effect finishing, the process by which textiles are made particularly resistant by subjecting them to a special surface treatment, such as a coating, or fitted with supplementary elements, such as LEDs.

A particular highlight and linking element between the two fairs is the 2nd 'Innovative Apparel Show'. Following last year's successful première with over 500 trade visitors per show, universities for fashion and design will again present visionary designs based on technical textiles on the catwalk and explain the processing stages at the coming fair. New: the Innovative Apparel Show 2017 will be even more international with designs from universities in a variety of countries.

As the leading international trade fairs for their sectors, Techtextil and Texprocess present all product groups and areas of application for textiles and nonwovens (Techtextil) and processing and finishing technologies for textiles and flexible materials (Texprocess). Last time in May 2015, around 34,000 trade visitors from 102 countries (includes visitors coming from Texprocess) saw the new products shown by 1, 389 Techtextil exhibitors from 52 nations. They profited from the synergistic effects generated by the concurrent Texprocess with its 273 exhibitors and around 21, 000 trade visitors, many of them who looked in from Techtextil. Altogether, the two fairs welcomed 1,662 exhibitors from 54 countries and almost 42, 000 trade visitors from 116 nations.
