Creativeworld team surprised in their turn as "Always a surprise" wins top award

On 4 November 2015 the international trade fair, Creativeworld, was awarded the prize for the best event poster in the trade fair and exhibition industry by the Union of International Fairs (UFI). The Creativeworld poster 'Always a surprise' fought off competition from 68 entries by other trade-fair companies. "We are very proud to have come first, " says Julia Uherek, Director of Marketing Communication, Consumer Goods & Leisure, who received the prize in Milan on behalf of Messe Frankfurt. "It is recognition of the excellent work that our team put in and confirmation that our 'Always a surprise' campaign got it right. The poster advertised Creativeworld 2015 and was, indeed, a success with exhibitors and visitors alike and this is underlined by the increased exhibitor and visitor numbers at the last event.

The motif of the poster was designed and realised by the WOB communications agency, based in Viernheim. It reflects, in an interesting and exciting way, the sorts of things that exhibitors and visitors alike can find at the international trade fair for hobby supplies, craft materials and artist's requisites; a creative melting pot of exciting, new and surprising products materials and technologies for the hobbies and crafts sector. Every year, Creativeworld offers real inspiration for the retail trade to encourage customers to buy, using new and creative ideas and thus increasing revenues, " says Julia Uherek. "Most of these ideas are aimed at creating that big wow effect, although this is achieved with simple means just like our key visual 'Always a surprise'. The poster for the 2015 show depicts a tube of paint, with what are apparently different coloured paints emerging from it. On closer inspection, however, they are in fact brightly coloured woollen threads that are coming out of the tube.

Adjudicators' decision unanimous
The adjudication panel for this unique award of the trade fair and exhibition industry took more than three hours to choose between the 68 submissions from 18 different countries. The assessment by trade-fair specialists and graphic designers took into account the originality of the design concept, the successful interpretation of the exhibition's theme and the clarity of the message of and about the fair. The adjudicators' decision in favour of Messe Frankfurt amongst all the competition entrants was unanimous: the poster for the international trade fair Creativeworld is the winner of the 2015 International Poster Competition.
