Christmasworld: fresh flowers and plants can now be ordered at the fair

Fresh ideas invigorate the conventional retail trade – and this is particularly true of decorations and festive articles because these products are generally purchased spontaneously. But how is it possible to ensure customers keep coming back? Essential are original novelties, attractive displays, expert advice and top service. With over 900 international exhibitors Christmasworld in Frankfurt am Main is an unrivalled source not only of inspiration for new assortments and shop window and in-shop presentations but also of information and valuable business contacts. "As the leading trade fair for the sector, we consider it our duty to arrange a programme of events that surprises visitors every year and generates new impulses for a busy festive season in the retail trade", says Christmasworld Director Eva Olbrich of Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. And the coming Christmasworld will offer completely new ways of attracting customers with a range of fresh flowers and plants in Galleria 0, which can be ordered straight from the growers.

"We firmly believe that flowers supplement the range of seasonal-decoration products perfectly and help boost sales. Hence, we intend to expand this product segment in the future, too", adds Eva Olbrich. When it comes to planning the fair and the complementary programme of events, Messe Frankfurt focuses on new market opportunities for its customers and, by paving the way for this, releases new business potential.

The events that will generate new ideas can be seen from the following overview of Christmasworld – International Trade Fair for Festive and Decorative Articles – in Halls 8.0, 9.0, 9.1, 9.2 and 11.0 of Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 29 January to 2 February 2016:

The most important source of inspiration and order aid for the trade: 'Creating atmospheres', the Christmasworld Trend Show
Which colours, materials, patterns and shapes are set to dominate the coming festive season? The designers of Stilbüro bora.herke.palmisano use exhibitor products to stage the Christmasworld Trends for 2016 in four different worlds of style under the motto 'Creating atmospheres'. The names of the new trends for 2016/17 are 'surreal laboratories', 'boho treasuries', 'quiet harmonies' and 'playful possibilities' and they leave room for individual decorative interpretations not only at Advent and Christmas but also for all other festive occasions of the year. The designers make their reliable prognosis for the world of decorations and festive articles on the basis of the latest trends from the fields of fashion, architecture and interior design. Lectures and guided tours by the designers will be held from 29 January to 1 February 2016 at 11.00, 13.00 and 15.00 hrs and on 2 February 2016 at 12.00 hrs. Free copies of the Trend Brochure will be available at the information stand.

New ways for a great presentation:
'design by modern nature' special presentation

Rudi Tuinman and Pascal Koeleman of 2Dezign are renowned for enticing customers into a very special world where they surprise and enchant them. With the gigantic 'design by modern nature' special presentation, the designers show how shopping can be a wonderful experience at Christmas time by going into the forest and the countryside. A modern 'Christmas Feeling' is invoked by the 'Forest Camping', 'Tree of the World' and 'Christmas Cabin' areas whereby fresh flowers and plants are the absolute eye-catchers of the presentation. Lots of glitter, glamour, shades of copper and gold give the greens and browns of the forest a festive and luxurious look. The 'design by modern nature' presentation is the perfect platform for decorative elements of international exhibitors: all materials and products shown are labelled with the name and stand number of the individual exhibitors.

New money spinners:
Decoration Star Innovation Award

The Innovation Award of Christmasworld and P&G trade magazine from the bit-Verlag publishing company will be presented for the third time in 2016. The Decoration Stars are given in three categories: Christmas Star (products for the Christmas festivities), Seasonal Star (products for seasonal decorations and gifts) and Promotion Star (advertising, sales promotions, PoS activities and campaigns). What counts are, for example, extraordinary design, excellent ergonomics, product performance and environmental friendliness. The winners of the new 'Decoration Stars' will be announced at the Christmasworld Forum on the first day of the fair. Additionally, a special exhibition and bilingual documentation in the Foyer of Hall 11.0 will offer an overview of the products entered – and supplementary order ideas for assortment compilation.

Practical lectures and workshops for greater expertise:

Garden centres, DIY markets and florists inspire their customers at Christmas with original Christmas markets, decorations and events. The Christmas Garden Market competition of Christmasworld and the Association of German Garden Centres (Verband der Deutschen Gartencenter – VDG) honours the best ideas. The public voting can be followed live on the competition website at www.weihnachtlicher-gartenmarkt.de. The final result is the combination of public voting and the assessments of an expert jury. The search is on for the most attractively decorated Christmas towns and cities: Best Christmas City competition
Atmospherically illuminated shopping precincts and enchanting Christmas markets attract consumers into the city centres. And the search is on for the best examples with the 'Best Christmas City' competition, which will be held for the second time at Christmasworld 2016 and is being organised by Messe Frankfurt in cooperation with the German City and Urban Marketing Association (Bundesvereinigung City- and Stadtmarketing Deutschland e.V. – bcsd) and Public Marketing magazine. From November, all German towns and cities are called on to describe their most attractive Christmas decorations and events in words and images and to upload their descriptions onto the competition website at www.BestChristmasCity.de. The online voting runs until 5 January 2016. The public award goes to the town or city with the most online votes. Additionally, a jury of experts will choose the award winners in three categories: small city, medium-sized city and big city. The winners of this part of the competition will be announced at the awards ceremony during the bcsd New Year's Reception at the fair on 29 January 2016.
