Trends and new products and concepts at the "Textile & Machinery" segment

A leading international trade fair like interzum presents visitors with the newest trends in the furniture industry and interior design. While preparing for their fair appearance, exhibitors therefore put serious consideration into questions like: What trends do they see for the future? Which products will deliver on those trends? And which new products and services will they actually present at the fair? To gauge initial opinion, Koelnmesse asked the interzum exhibitors some questions in advance of the fair.

Another chapter in the interzum success story is about to begin: the so-called "textile" Halls 9, 10.1 and 10.2 which house the "Textile & Machinery" segment are almost completely booked out. Around 460 exhibitors, 75% of whom from abroad, will present the entire spectrum of upholstered furniture production, mattress manufacture as well as the treatment and processing of upholstery fabrics and leather. In addition, the "Textile Production Line" Piazza in Hall 10.1 in particular will be certain to draw the crowds, enhancing the product presentation with an exciting event area.

In answer to the question on the most important current trends for the industry, several companies were already prepared to provide a glimpse into their plans for interzum in advance of the fair. expert systemtechnik, for example, identified the significant trend for upholstered furniture production in cross-system networking of production processes. At interzum, the company will demonstrate that this technology does not always entail investment in new products or systems. "By replacing out-dated hardware components and the associated software with specially developed interfaces, older cutting systems can be updated to the current state-of-the-art in technology, and continue to be used", says Sebastian Bruder, Managing Diretor of expert systemtechnik.

Integrated process solutions are an important topic for Lectra too and they are, in addition, observing a trend in the leather industry for automation in the cutting process, with the goal of increasing productivity.

For Favaron, it is important to cater to clients' individual requirements. The Italian plastic fittings manufacturer sees "customisation" as one of the industry's most important catchwords. The company will be presenting a new plastic lamella for bed frames for the first time.

Meeting individual customer requirements more effectively is something Bekaert Textiles also wants to do. That's why the Belgian company is introducing a new tool called "Imagine" which facilitates the quick development and visualisation of new products.

Maquinol from Portugal will present their new "Exacto Mattress Line" for individual mattress production for the first time. The presentation of the "Exacto" emphasises the company's continuing pursuit of automated and reliable solutions for the polyurethane industry.

Products which are authentic, natural and healthy while at the same time produced in an environmentally friendly manner are the focus of Radium Foam. At interzum, the Dutch company will be presenting a new comfort latex to be used for the production of mattresses and pillows which can then be converted into caoutchouc sap at the end of its operating life.

Reusability is also an important issue for Italian company Imbotex, which will present its latest innovation at interzum - a new alternative to down which is environmentally friendly and recyclable, with the added benefit that no animals are harmed in its production.

Spradling emphasises the trend for synthetic leather with a textile look and feel which at the same time is very easy to clean. Correspondingly, the company introduces a brand-new synthetic calf leather: a layered textile which facilitates easy cleaning and the removal of stains and significantly improves colour transfer resistance.

Danish company Invector has announced a world premiere by the name of "Invector Pack & Pall" - an innovative palletising system for beds and mattresses.

Like many other companies, Resta from Italy will only reveal that it will unveil a world premiere, one which will surprise visitors to interzum.

In summary, there are indeed plenty of good reasons to visit interzum, taking place from 5 to 8 May 2015: discover new products and concepts, experience trends up close and see the production of a variety of textile components for the automobile industry at the "Textile Production Line" live!
