Final report Automechanika Buenos Aires 2014

In this new edition, Automechanika Buenos Aires positioned itself, once again, as the most important event for the industry. In spite of the complex economic situation, 322 exhibiting companies took part in the exhibition (2012: 430) coming from 19 countries: Germany, Argentina, Brazil, Bulgaria, Chile, China, Korea, United States, France, Hong Kong, India, England, Italy, Lithuania, Malaysia, Poland, Taiwan, Turkey and Uruguay. It was attended by 27, 064 professional visitors and businessmen (2012: 31, 916) devoted to the spare part sector coming from 28 countries: Algeria, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, China, Colombia, Germany, Ivory Coast, EE.UU, Ecuador, France, India, Italy, Japan, Korea, Mexico, Panama, Paraguay, Peru, Portugal, Slovakia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, Uruguay and Venezuela.

The opening ceremony of Automechanika Buenos Aires 2014 was carried out within the closing framework of the Seminar of the Association of Argentine Components Manufacturers (AFAC) "Meeting of the automotive industry leaders 2014: "Opportunities for Sector Investment and Development". The following authorities participated in the event: the Argentina's Minister of Industry, Bach Débora Giorgi; the president of Messe Frankfurt Argentina, Mr. Fernando Gorbarán; the vice-president and general manager of Automechanika worldwide, Mr. Michael Johannes and the president of the Association of Argentine Components Manufacturers, Mr. Fabio Rozemblum. Authorities from several associations related to the automotive sector also took part in the event.

Within the framework of the ribbon cutting, the president of Messe Frankfurt Argentina highlighted the effort and support given by the bodies and entities which take part in the exhibition and said: "Automechanika gives the possibility of strengthening the management of business and meetings, and together with AFAC members we have brought Latin American buyers to integrate them to the local production."

The vice-president and general manager of Automechanika worldwide, Mr. Michael Johannes, said that "in spite of the years in which the economic situation has not been favorable, the exhibition has always been successful. The automotive segment believes that cooperation brings success. Automechanika is one of the most outstanding events internationally, thus it has become a leading brand in the market of international fairs."

During this edition, the concept "Truck Competence" was included, the exhibiting companies highlighted the range of products, accessories and services for heavy vehicles, and it has been of special interest for professional visitors.

In parallel to the exhibition, a full program of activities in which visitors had the chance of inform themselves and train on the latest products and technologies was developed. Among the outstanding events we can mention:

Seminar "Meeting of automotive industry leaders 2014: "Opportunities for Sector Investment and Development".
Organized by the Association of Argentine Components Manufacturers (AFAC), the conference had the participation of more than 200 participants, among which there were integrants of the automotive value chain, national and provincial officials, and important Argentine and foreign business entities who discuss on the opportunities for the sector investment and development.

2nd Spare Part Localization Matchmaking Program.
Organized by the Association of Argentine Components Manufacturers (AFAC) jointly with the Argentine Association of Automotive Makers (ADEFA), there were meetings among the automotive terminals Fiat, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Iveco, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot-Citroën, Renault, Scania, Toyota, and Volkswagen with their local suppliers.

Exhibitors' Conferences
During four days, more than 32 lectures on interest subjects for the spare part industry were given, as well as products, services and new technologies functioning were presented.

Tuner Challenge IV
Visitors saw live the integral transformation of the body, equipment, interior and paint of an American FORD 150 and a Can-Am Spyder.

5th International Matchmaking Program for Buyers of Spare Parts
With the aim of driving business abroad, Messe Frankfurt Argentina jointly with Proargentina and with the cooperation of Fundación Exportar, carried out the 5th edition of the International Matchmaking Program for Buyers of Spare Parts. During two days international guests from Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, Guatemala, Honduras, Panama and Peru had meetings with Argentine companies from the sector.
