Most attractive ‘Christmas Garden Market’ honoured at Christmasworld 2014

The winners of the second Christmas Garden Market organised by Christmasworld, the German Association of Garden Centres (Verband Deutscher Garten-Center e.V – VDG), 'DEGA Grüner Markt' trade magazine and 'Mein Paradies' consumer magazine, have been announced. The awards will be presented in the following categories at Christmasworld 2014, the leading international trade fair for festive decorations: (1) Garden centre, individual and chain companies, (2) DIY market, chain company, (3) DIY market, individual company and (4) Gardeners / florists, individual and chain companies. Additionally, there is an online award and a main winner of the online and jury voting. For the first time this year, customers were able to vote for the most attractive Advent decorations at garden centres not only in Germany but also in Austria and Switzerland on the campaign website at www.weihnachtlicher-gartenmarkt.de. Additionally, the jury of experts rated the presentations by the participating markets.

"This year's response to the competition has been incredibly good with lots of very high-quality, creative Advent decorations, all of which demonstrate a great love of detail", says a delighted Eva Olbrich, Christmasworld Director, Messe Frankfurt Exhibition GmbH. During the voting phase from 16 October 2013 to 6 January 2014, 45 markets from Germany, Austria and Switzerland uploaded 360 photographs. The website registered some 27,000 visitors and 10,000 votes cast.

"This is a sensational result, which not only underscores the creative potential and the passion of the green sector for good Christmas markets but also promotes the sector and draws the attention of a wider audience to it. We should certainly continue the digital competition next year", says Peter Botz, Director General of the German Association of Garden Centres.
