Expo Build China 2014

Expo Build China 2014, China's leading exhibition for premium building materials, is scheduled to take place from 31st March - 3rd April 2014 at the Shanghai New International Expo Centre. As the world's second largest economy, China has huge demand for building materials for its rapid urbanisation process. In January and February 2013, nationwide building material markets achieved total sales revenue of approximately USD$23 billion. Shanghai, the most international city in mainland China, has a very active real estate market. In the first half of 2013, total investment in the Shanghai real estate market exceeded USD$32 billion, leading to a boom in building materials consumption in Shanghai and Eastern China.

As one of the largest premium comprehensive building trade shows in China, Expo Build China, has built up its reputation through 22 years of experience in the building industry, as well as serving as the gateway for investors and traders who want to approach the rapidly growing Chinese market. Expo Build China is organised by UBM Sinoexpo and supported by the Architectural Society of China and the China Institute of Interior Design. As part of the international hospitality show - the HDD Expo - it is estimated that Expo Build China will attract the participation of over 500 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors.

Based on the successes in 2012 and 2013, the third edition of Ecobuild China, which is derived from the world's largest green building and new energy trade fair - Ecobuild in London - will be held concurrently at Expo Build China 2014 in the form of a United Kingdom pavilion and a green building pavilion. It will combine the latest innovative technologies and products in sustainable architectural design, along with a host of cutting-edge conferences, as well as practical applications featuring the suppliers of products and solutions for sustainable buildings and green technologies. A large academic delegation from the United Kingdom, including the British Research Establishment (BRE), the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB), and the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) will provide high-level debates on topics such as transforming low-carbon construction into reality, and promoting building information modelling (BIM), the BRE Environmental Assessment Method (BREEAM) and so forth. More than 30 leading industry experts from across the world will be invited to attend the debates, which will cover the most pertinent issues faced in the region and in the industry.

In addition, the Hotel Plus - Mockup Hotel Room Show will be another highlight of Expo Build China 2014. This is being co-organised by the China Tourist Hotels Association and the Alliance of China Hotel Owners. The Hotel Plus show is devoted to demonstrating the most cutting-edge decorative art and material technologies in hotel space design through the setting-up of six demonstration suites in hotel guest rooms on-site, and the total exhibition area will be over 1,000 sqm.
