FORM 2013 – expert jury honours 70 Tendence exhibitors for outstanding design

Innovative design, product-oriented choice of materials, functionality and processing – these are just some of the criteria that the independent jury of experts uses to select the products for the 'FORM 2013 – the best from crafts and industry' exhibition. Also decisive: overall composition. Visitors can see which of the 110 products entered by Tendence exhibitors have been selected by the experts during the international Tendence consumer-goods fair at Frankfurt Fair and Exhibition Centre from 24 to 27 August 2013.

The members of the jury include recognised experts such as Andrea Basse (product designer), Lutz Dietzold (Director of the German Design Council (Rat für Formgebung)), Günter Matten (metal designer) and Ulrike Scriba (wood designer). "The FORM competition is one of the few events to bridge the gap between arts & crafts and industrial design whereby it is interesting to see the growing number of overlaps between the two segments", says Günter Matten, spokesman of the FORM jury. For trade visitors, manufacturers and journalists, the exhibition of selected products at Tendence represents an opportunity to obtain a good overview of the latest trends and developments not only in the world of arts & crafts but also in the field of industrial design.

FORM is organised by the German Arts & Crafts Association (Bundesverband Kunsthandwerk) and Messe Frankfurt GmbH. This year, the competition, which was one of the first of its kind in Germany, celebrates its 60th birthday. "Over the decades, 'FORM' has developed into a seal of quality for Tendence exhibitors and retailers, the industry and the press", says Christina Beyer, Director of the German Arts & Crafts Association. "Not only has the 'FORM' award gained in significance for a company's marketing, the exhibition at Tendence also creates a framework for new contacts and business relationships between the creative and industrial sides. And, in many cases, these contacts result in orders being placed at the fair itself."

Event note:
The Hessian State Award for German Arts & Crafts is presented annually at Tendence. This year, the awards ceremony will be held for the 63rd time. The works of the three winners will be on show in the 'FORM 2013' exhibition from the afternoon of 25 August 2013. The Hessian State Award for German Arts & Crafts is Germany's oldest state award. The speech at the ceremony will be given by Karl-Sebastian Schulte, Director of the German Confederation of Skilled Crafts (Zentralverband des Deutschen Handwerks – ZDH) and the German Association of Skilled Crafts Confederations (Unternehmerverband Deutsches Handwerk – UDH). The awards will be presented by the Hessian Minister for Economics, Transport and State Development, Florian Rentsch.
