Reports provide information on heat pump markets in Europe

Country reports on heat pumps are now available on the website of the European Heat Pump Summit and provide information about heat pump markets in European countries. "The country reports summarize the key facts and figures. They offer heat pump experts detailed information on market development and market potential in compact form, " explains Gabriele Hannwacker, Director Exhibitions at NürnbergMesse. The country report on Finland is already available online free of charge and other country reports will follow up to the start of the two-day heat pump event on 15 October 2013. The European Heat Pump Summit – powered by Chillventa – will then bring together industry experts in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg for the third time.

The series of country reports starts with a look at a country that has made a name for itself as a heat pump pioneer in the use of renewable energy. Located in the extreme north of Europe, Finland has a permanently cool climate with average annual temperatures of less than 2ºC. As the use of energy for heating is distinctly higher than in other European countries, the heat pump is a suitable energy-efficient producer of heat, although the cold Finnish climate imposes special conditions on the heat pump technology used.

The national market for heat pumps grew by up to 30 per cent a year over the past years, so that the heat pump now already provides more than 10.2 per cent of the heat energy for residential buildings, commercial properties and public buildings. In relation to the number of inhabitants, Finland occupies a top position by international comparison. The Finnish heat pump experts in the industry association SULPU expect the number of heat pumps to continue to increase and assume that growth to one million heat pumps is possible by 2020.

Current figures and more information about the political framework in Finland are contained in the detailed country report, which is available now on the website of the European Heat Pump Summit. Country reports on other European countries will follow up to the start of the event in mid October.

Concentrated expert knowledge: European Heat Pump Summit 2013
The European Heat Pump Summit in the Exhibition Centre Nuremberg serves as a platform for intensive discussions for proven heat pump experts on 15–16 October 2013. Here they exchange views on the current situation in the industry and take a look into the future of the heat pump. One part of the programme provides information about the activities of the International Energy Agency (IEA-HPP) and specialist knowledge on its varied Heat Pump Programme. The Foyer Expo offers space for product presentations, where heat pump and component manufacturers, experts from science and research, planners and operators can bring themselves right up to date.

The topics at the European Heat Pump Summit 2013 are:

Use of renewable energy with heat pumps
Market potential for heat pumps
Components and product development
Practical reports on the use of heat pumps for residential, commercial and industrial applications
Heat pumps for water heating
Technical innovations and prospects for heat pumps
Heat pumps as a key element of the German energy turnaround.
