ISPO BIKE: Innovation meets style and design

ISPO BIKE 2013 is held from July 25 to 28 at the Messe München exhibition center. Innovative technology, high quality and trendy bike wear, traffic safety or sustainability – for each of these topics there will be exhibitors with the matching products at ISPO BIKE. Whether hidden e-motors, trendy rain ponchos, helmets with revolutionary reflector systems or rechargeable pedelec batteries – the magic word is creativity.

Innovative electronics, extraordinary suspension, extremely light and seamless integration of frame and Bosch motor – this is the description of Cannondale's E-Series, setting new standards in the e-bike category. In addition, the bike offers first-class torque, gentle power transmission, and a comfortable, yet precise riding experience. The Cannondale E-Series exemplifies pure efficiency when cycling in the city and on steep grades.

Newcomer A2B introduces its new top model A2B Entz at ISPO BIKE. This e-bike is the world's first model to feature the new AEG center drive motor. It is mounted directly to the bottom bracket hub, thus eliminating any special frame adaptation.

In addition, the modern city bike features the new Continental belt drive and the stepless Nuvinci automatic gearshift system. Disk brakes, suspension fork and a high-quality lighting system complete the overall package.

Cycling without compromising on style and function – this was the goal of Café du Cycliste's design for their new collection. The young French fashion label presents its high-quality and high-function collection at ISPO BIKE. Their bike wear is perfect for use in an urban environment thanks to classic French style and elegance. The garments do not resemble typical bike wear yet satisfy all requirements cyclists may have.

It was trending a few years ago, but hardly anyone wanted to wear it. Thanks to Otto_london it has been revitalized: the poncho. The Urban Poncho is not just stylish and water-repellant, but also extremely practical. Made of waterproof Oxford nylon, it features a high-quality finish as well as loops for attachment to the handlebars, perfect to protect the urban rider against inclement weather. The poncho embodies playful function combined with urban style.

Bicycle helmets have long been accepted as a safety fixture – thanks to a number of manufacturers, such as POC, helmets are trending and have established themselves as popular accessories. The Swedish helmet and protector expert's all-mountain/bmx helmet line Crane is proof. POC introduces its children's helmet for the first time at ISPO BIKE.

The POCito is based on the Crane line and offers all known safety features, such as the double-shell system, as well as additional optical safety features. The helmet is available exclusively in fluorescent orange with reflectors, which guarantee up to 300% more visibility in traffic. Thanks to adjustable sizing the helmet is suitable for growing children.

The manufacturers of Liofit describe themselves as follows: "We are the most eco-friendly battery repair people". Their technology allows the restoration of most pedelec batteries to full capacity without exchanging any components. The process is currently the only one of its kind and has no competition; these days, market participants generally exchange batteries that could still be used. The innovative Battery Charge Control System used by Liofit optimizes battery cell balancing and increases charging speeds. This results in increased efficiency, performance and a prolonged lifecycle. Beginning in 2014 the company will market a battery-integrated GPS tracker with capacity information transmission and a customer portal.

Rovigaro GmbH is another company considering the subject of sustainability. The Mühldorf-based company presents a new online market place for e-bikes at ISPO BIKE. This platform allows individuals and dealers to offer their used e-bikes, demo models or special offers. This service has been working well for the automotive segment, and also looks promising for the e-bike and pedelec sector. After all, there are currently close to 1.3 million electronically assisted bicycles in use on Germany's streets – and counting.
